The NutraThrive Team

Meet  Sally & Teresa

“Because you don’t know, what you don’t know”

At The NutraThrive Collective, we are committed to empowering cancer patients, caregivers, and health professionals by highlighting the essential connections between nutrition, recovery, and well-being.

Founded by Teresa and Sally-Anne—experienced healthcare professionals and cancer survivors—we bring together over 55 years of expertise enriched by our personal journeys. We truly understand the unique challenges you face and recognise the gaps in knowledge and support for those navigating life after a cancer diagnosis.

Because “You don’t know what you don’t know,” we aim to bridge that gap with our evidence-based nutrition advice, which we believe is essential for your recovery and overall well-being. Our carefully crafted resources, including nutrition courses, webinars, and articles, are designed to educate and inspire you every step of the way. Our holistic approach addresses both the physical and emotional needs of cancer patients, fostering a supportive community where you can feel understood and empowered.

When you work with us, you’re not just gaining access to tools for better health; you’re joining a compassionate community dedicated to helping you reclaim your vitality and thrive after cancer. We’re here for you every step of the way.

The Creation of
The NutraThrive Collective

At The NutraThrive Collective, our journey began with a shared mission: to empower cancer patients, caregivers, and health professionals to learn more about the vital connections between nutrition, recovery, and well-being after cancer. Founded by Associate Professor Teresa Mitchell-Paterson, an Academic and Clinical Nutritionist, and Sally-Anne Kriel, a Masters Qualified Nurse, Author, and National Cancer Wellbeing Advocate, we bring together over 55 years of healthcare experience. Our collective emerged from the belief that quality nutrition education and support—grounded in science—is no longer an ‘optional extra’; it is essential for recovery and overall well-being after cancer.

Both Teresa and Sally-Anne have personally faced the rollercoaster of ups and downs as cancer patients. Their experiences identified significant gaps in knowledge and support for those navigating life after a diagnosis. They recognised that while medical advancements are crucial, the role of nutrition in recovery is often understated or overlooked. This insight inspired them to create a space where evidence-based nutrition advice becomes a fundamental part of comprehensive cancer care.

Teresa is a dedicated Clinical Nutritionist and Academic who has devoted her career to holistic post-cancer care. With decades of clinical experience and her journey as a cancer patient, she deeply understands the complexities of recovery. Her approach is grounded in compassion and a genuine desire to empower others to reclaim their health and vitality.

Sally-Anne, a registered nurse, national advocate for bowel cancer awareness, and author, brings her extensive nursing expertise and personal insights as a mother and cancer patient. Her journey through recovery highlighted the confusion many patients experience, fuelling her passion for advocating quality, holistic care that addresses both the physical and emotional needs of all cancer patients at every stage.

Together, we created The NutraThrive Collective to bridge the gap between healthcare and nutrition, offering services designed to educate and inspire. From carefully curated nutrition courses and co-designed webinars to insightful articles, speaking engagements, and podcast interviews, our goal is to equip cancer patients, caregivers, and health professionals with the tools they need to navigate the complexities of recovery and life after cancer.

At The NutraThrive Collective, we believe that knowledge is power. By sharing our experiences and expertise, we empower others to make informed choices about their health and well-being. Our holistic approach, grounded in personal lived-experience and professional knowledge, fosters a supportive community where well-being after cancer is the priority.
